High Plains Pueblo Icon

Watercolor and Acrylic on Paper - 20" x 26"

Again the high deserts of New Mexico are the inspiration for this painting. I love high-altitude deserts. There is just something about the clarity of the air and the softness of the light that affects everything. The warm, dry days and cold, crisp nights are the perfect climate for me. And somehow, the idea of cold blustery winds and even snow in the desert is very appealing to me.

It is no wonder to me that Georgia O'Keeffe, one of my heroes, lived and painted in the New Mexican high deserts.
